First promo for season two of HBO’s The Leftovers teases a new beginning

Although I count myself as a fan of HBO's The Leftovers, I'd be hard-pressed to put into words what the show was actually all about; that uncertainty was actually one of the draws for me as I found The Leftovers to be one of the most compelling shows of recent years. There was some question whether or not The Leftovers would return for a second season but thankfully it has, and we have to first teaser for that second season right here.

The second season of The Leftovers will be somewhat of a soft reboot for the series, in addition to the change of location only a handful of the original cast will return. Those returning include Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, and Christopher Eccleston. The Leftovers was based upon the book of the same name by Tom Perrotta, but as the first season dealt with most of the material present in the novel, season two will be something entirely new. Tom Perrotta worked with Damon Lindelof to create the series.

Synopsis for season two:

More than three years ago, 2% of the world’s population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero. Pack your bags. Season 2 of The Leftovers premieres this fall.

The Leftovers will return to HBO this fall.
