First Toy Story 4 teaser finds the toys in absolute, temporary bliss

The third and supposedly final TOY STORY movie came out in 2010 to wild success, making over $1 billion at the box office and earning Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. That would seem like a good place for Pixar to stop with their flagship series about toys that talk, but the desire to revisit what Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen) and the gang (as well as the faint sounds of “cha-chings”) was too strong, and now we are less than a year away from TOY STORY 4. The first teaser is here, and though it’s not too detailed, there is indeed one “toy” that does not belong in the group, sending everything into a flurry.

As always with teasers for big movies, we aren't going to get a very detailed, revealing piece of footage for quite a bit, and at this point, that means some time next year. We do know that this new character is named "Forky," a spork turned into a toy by Bonnie, the young girl the toys were given to in TS3. He has a big purpose in the story that finds him having an existential crisis after he goes and tries to fulfill his true purpose as a spork, with the gang learning along the way what makes a toy a toy. That is…possibly way too deep for my blood, and will probably blow all our minds and make cry our eyes out.

Mostly, it's great to see the old gang back together, and them in a friendship circle as Joni Mitchell music plays in the background is precisely how I wanted to see them living after all these years.

Here's Disney's plot synopsis:

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
