Did you know it’s been six years since James L. Brooks’ last film SPANGLISH? Brooks sure takes his sweet time in between directorial projects. SPANGLISH didn’t come out till seven years after AS GOOD AS IT GETS, which incidentally, was the last time a film of his got nominated for and won Oscars (one each for Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt).
Will Brooks’ latest film HOW DO YOU KNOW get him back into awards territory? He’s certainly assembled a stellar cast for it with the likes of Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, and Jack Nicholson. The romantic comedy centers on the love triangle between a professional softball player (Witherspon), a corporate executive (Rudd), and a major-league pitcher (Wilson).
