It’s weird to think that the next film from an A-list star like Johnny Depp still doesn’t have a distributor or a release date here in the US. While THE RUM DIARY is set for a September release in the UK, still no word on when we’ll get to see it. It’s not surprising that there are a few more hurdles for this movie to clear since it was such a long and difficult road just to get to this point. Depp alone has been attached to the film since 2000 (?!) and actors like Nick Nolte, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Hartnett have come and gone over the years.
The film, however, has wrapped with a cast that includes Giovanni Ribisi, Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard and Richard Jenkins. This seems like a no-brainer for a studio like Fox Searchlight or Focus Features but we’ll have to wait and see how this gets released here in the States.
