Firth trades Meat

Ok, so when I hear the name Colin Firth, I think of sappy British Romantic Comedies… which is about as far away from horror as you can get (unless you’re DEAD ALIVE).

That’s why hearing that he’s set to star in Antonia Bird’s THE MEAT TRADE, I had to stop a moment and make sure it had no romance in it. And I don’t think this one does.

Bird, who brought us RAVENOUS, is set to direct this flick, about 2 dudes in the 19th century who made dough robbing graves, and selling the corpses to doctors and schools as cadavers. Business is all fine and dandy, until their supply somehow runs low… then they start getting dead bodies the old fashion way- by killing people!

Co-starring Robert Carlyle as Firth’s partner in crime, MEAT is written by Irvine Welsh, the dude who wrote TRAINSPOTTING. Holy schmoe, I think this one might be a winner!

Death, destruction, corpses, murder…. really, I don’t see a down side to this flick. No word on when filming begins, but I got a feeling it’s gonna start soon enough. Stay tuned for the latest!

And for no reason at all…
