Focus Features sets Bullhead director Michael R. Roskam for survival thriller The Tiger

Wow, it appears THE TIGER isn’t extinct after-all…

Not sure you recall, but THE TIGER is a gritty survival tale that’s been on the adaptation block since Spring of 2010. At that time, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie (below) and Darren Aronofksy were loosely attached to star in and direct the flick. Well, we’re not sure about the stars anymore, but we do now who’ll bring THE TIGER to life. Deadline has it that BULLHEAD director Michael R. Roskam will helm THE TIGER for Focus Features.

Based on the John Vaillant book (adapted by Guillermo Arriaga):

The film will be a fact-based story that takes place on the Siberian plain, where humans encroach on a tiger’s habitat with tragic results. There is a great male lead role of an animal activist and researcher who must stop a man-eating tiger that is attacking the inhabitants of a remote village in Russia’s Far East. The tiger isn’t just killing people, it’s murdering them, and the team that tracks him know their nemesis is cunning, injured, and starving, making it even more dangerous.

Sounds f*ckin’ awesome to me…like a mix between THE EDGE, THE GREY and THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS. I’m all about it! Thing is, if Pitt and Jolie are no longer involved, who should star?
