For now, Nicolas Cage says his Ghost Rider days are over

Love him in the role of Johnny Blaze or not, Nicolas Cage does love comics, and it’s beyond the casual sense. The actor has a GHOST RIDER tattoo before he even started shooting the first film. He’s a collector, and seems to know his shit, so you gotta respect him for that.

Then again, if you didn’t like him as Blaze in GHOST RIDER then you may be happy to find that he’s had his go with the role. This is what he told MTV:

I think the ship has sailed on that one. At least with me involved.

Regardless of what people thought about the movies, especially the last one– GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE– Cage still chalks it up as a success. Not to mention that they didn’t have as much money as they want to put the sequel together:

Contrary to whatever the perception is, that was an enormously successful movie. We made it for, like, $47 or $48 million dollars, and it approached $200 million. I view that as a success. I think people need to know we did that on a shoestring budget. When you look at it that way you see the enormous talent of Mark Neveldine and Bryan Taylor, that they were able to accomplish that.

If the studio decides to kick another out in the near future, but if they do it 5 or so years down the road, then maybe he’ll consider it…maybe:

Personally, I’m done. I’ve done what I had to do with that part. You never say never, but right now, today, I would say that I’m done.

He also suggests trying a female Ghost Rider. I’ll have to think about that one.
