Earlier today we we’re noting how the success of AVATAR has pumped new belief into studio financed science fiction. Not only is Fox aiming a keen eye on the space epic ION, it appears they’ve also optioned rights to Ray Bradbury’s acclaimed short-story assemblage THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES. Now how ’bout them mothafu*kin’ apples?!?
John Davis, the Fox producer behind such sci-fi efforts as AVP and I, ROBOT, is said to be the man behind the deal. Hopefully dude’ll yield a better product this go around!
The Martian Chronicles is a 1950 science fiction short story collection by Ray Bradbury that chronicles the colonization of Mars by humans fleeing from a troubled and eventually atomically devastated Earth, and the conflict between aboriginal Martians and the new colonists. The book lies somewhere between a short story collection and an episodic novel, containing stories Bradbury originally published in the late 1940s in science fiction magazines.
