Fox renews Wayward Pines for a second season

This past summer, the television series Wayward Pines, based on the trilogy of novels by Blake Crouch, enjoyed a successful ten episode run on Fox. Although those ten episodes were an adaptation of all three novels, executive producer Chad Hodge noted that the finale would leave a window open to the possibility of the TV show's story continuing beyond what Crouch had put on the page. Wayward Pines' ratings were so good, it's going to be going through that window.

Fox has officially announced that they have renewed Wayward Pines for a second season, which will air during the summer of 2016.

Executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan, who also directed the pilot episode, Wayward Pines has the following set-up:

Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

In addition to Dillon, the cast includes Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo, Carla Gugino, Charlie Tahan, Christian Tessier, Giacomo Baessato, Scott Michael Campbell, Shannyn Sossamon, and Juliette Lewis.

I didn't watch Wayward Pines when it was airing, but it sounds intriguing and has a great cast. I might have to check it out.
