Looks like the wooing is over and the suitor that will snatch up Alexandre Aja’s planned remake of THE HILLS HAVE EYES is Fox Searchlight. They beat out a number of other potential mates when Dimension (who’s making their genre decisions these days?????) put the project into turn around.
Wes Craven’s original brought us the happy tale of a vacationing family that takes a wrong turn, accidentally going through an air-testing range. When they get stranded in the desert, they become the targets of a cannibalistic, feral group of people. If you haven’t seen it, think DELIVERANCE on meth.
Aja will pen the remake with his HAUTE TENSION co-writer Gregory Levasseur. I’m thinking we really don’t have to worry about a PG-13 with this one!
