Fox shifts release dates for Ridley Scott & Tim Burton’s next

Got some ol' end of the month release shifting for ya…

Fox has issued an update of their release calendar, including a few high-profile genre flicks we've been covering closely here at AITH. The first is Ridley Scott's THE MARTIAN, which moves up a whole four months – from the dog days of March 2016 to the now scheduled awards season date of November 25, 2015. Could this mean a serious bounce-back for Scott after the lackluster COUNSELOR?

The other massive movie of note that Fox has moved around is Tim Burton's MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. In a not so fortunate turn, it seems Burton's flick will now assume the vacated March 4, 2016 date left behind by THE MARTIAN, moving back a whole 8 months…from the middle of summer '15 to those very dog days of March '16. Could this mean Burton is once again under the "is he washed up" microscope? Tim will tell.

In case you're wondering, here's what THE MARTIAN entails:

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

As for MISS PEREGRINE:

The story centers on a boy who grows up enraptured by his grandfather’s tale of an island of monsters and kids with powers. When his grandfather is killed, the now-16-year old boy finds himself on the island, exploring the ruins of an abandoned orphanage and discovering that the stories he heard were not only true, but only he can help stop the remaining hidden children – living in a time loop – from creatures who would destroy them.

One more time for your mind. THE MARTIAN now hits Earth November 25th, 2015. MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN opens March 4, 2016.

MISS PEREGRINE hereself, Eva Green
