It’s impossible to have a zombie movie without zombies, and it’s impossible to have a good zombie movie without a ton of zombies, zombies who are walking around, creating mischief and havoc, eating brains and intestines, and maybe even an arm or two in the background. Therefore, when it was announced that AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD, the new zombie series from director Frank Darabont was set to start filming in the Atlanta, GA, area, it was guaranteed that the production would need zombies, and lots of them.
And lucky for you, if you live in the ATL area, you now have a chance to be a zombie extra in the series!
That’s right folks, according to On Location Vacations, THE WALKING DEAD is looking for a few good zombies to be zombiefied for a few weekends… here are the details:
One of the scenes they will be filming in the neighborhood includes a main character arriving in a post-apocalyptic Atlanta. The seems to be void of life when he arrives but he soon finds himself surrounded by the living dead and is quickly engaged in a tense fight to save his own life.
The final scenes of the pilot episode and scenes for the second episode would be filmed during daylight hours over the course of two (2) weekends. The first weekend would be scheduled for June 11–13; the second weekend is scheduled for July 2–4.
The coolest thing about this, besides some of the details as to what the pilot and second episode may have in store for us, is that you don’t have to quit your day job to be a zombie, as they’re doing this on the weekends. Now how cool is that? You can continue to flip burgers or prosecute bad guys in court during the week, then become a zombie for a couple of weekends and no one would be the wiser (until the show hits cable, then look-out stardom!). Nice!
