The Hollywood Reporter has posted an interview from Cannes with comic-book genius Frank Miller, who talks a little about THE SPIRIT, his solo directorial effort.
Miller, who’s looking a bit like a comic-book character himself, talks about how THE SPIRIT is taking a cue from SIN CITY in terms of the technology that will be used, as well as how he’s trying to honor the “spirit” of Will Eisner’s original work.
Most interestingly, he doesn’t let on – at all – that he has an idea for who will play the titular character. At the end of the interview, he almost seems to want suggestions. Although of course that could be a clever trick meant to conceal the fact that he’s already cast Bruce Willis, who’s been searching for a chance to star in his umpteenth collaboration with the SPIRIT’s villain, Sam Jackson (aka “The Octopus”).
