Frankie Muniz, most famous for his title role on Malcolm in the Middle, has officially made the lane change to NASCAR, a goal of his for quite some time now.

In a statement, Frankie Muniz announced, “It’s with the utmost excitement, optimism and gratitude that I’m joining Rette Jones Racing for the full ARCA Menards Series schedule this year…Ever since childhood, it’s been my dream to pursue racing in NASCAR, and it was important for me to partner with a team that aligned with my long-term objectives and vision, while providing every opportunity imaginable to grow mentally and physically as a full-time race car driver.” His first race will be on February 18th at Daytona International Speedway behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang (#30).

Frankie Muniz added, “I look forward to not only demonstrating my ability on the track and just how serious how I am in progressing in my racing career, but also showing my son and family what it is to chase your dreams and re-invent yourself.”

Muniz also posted a video to his Twitter account as a highlight reel of some memorable racing moments.

Frankie Muniz’s racing aspirations go back around two decades. Interestingly–yet tragically–he drove the pace car at the 2001 Daytona 500, the event in which racing legend Dale Earnhardt was killed.

Frankie Muniz hasn’t been seen much on the big or small screen as of late, with his last movie appearance being in the 2018 horror flick The Black String. Late last year, however, Muniz did express interest in a Malcolm in the Middle reunion, saying, “I know Bryan Cranston is really into the idea and he’s kind of heading writing the script and getting everything rolling. So, there might be something. I would be down 100 percent…But I don’t know–we’ll see what happens.” Now that Muniz has a full-time commitment to NASCAR, would he be down to be a pain in Hal’s neck?
