Way back in August, we told you about FREAK OUT coming to DVD in January 2006. Well it didn’t happen, unfortunately.
All is forgiven, as today on the film’s official site, director Christian James and company announced that the film would be heading to DVD May 29th in the UK courtesy of Anchor Bay UK, while those of us in Region 1 land can expect the DVD in October. The 2-disc UK set will be stuffed to the gills, as only Anchor Bay can do. Here’s the rundown:
Disc 1: - Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, 5.1 and DTS
- Audio commentary with Director Christian James, Actor/Writer Dan Palmer and Actor/Producer Yazz Fetto
- Audio commentary moderated by BBC RADIO 1 movie critic James King with Director Christian James, Actor/Writer Dan Palmer and cast members James Heathcote, Nicola Connell and Chilli Gold
Disc 2:
- MAKING OUT – Behind the scenes of the four year shoot of the film, from the initial filming to the highly successful screening at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal
- GEEK OUT – Featurette featuring various famed internet movie-critics expressing their views on the film over images from the movie
- ZANIAC – Music Video Music video for the song Zaniac featured in the movie and starring the cast of FREAK OUT
- BUM-FEELING 101 – Sketch featuring the characters of FREAK OUT
- 5 MINUTE FILM SCHOOL – Humorous and informative film school giving tips to wannabe film-makers whilst at the same time spoofing the famous 10 Minute Film School of Robert Rodriguez
- HONEY, I BLEW UP THE LOONEY – Short featurette showing the process of the explosion sequence in the finale of the film

Funny how the trailer isn’t listed on this ‘everything and the kitchen sink’ release. An easter egg, perhaps? Will Arrow (who provided the voice for the Looney Doll) be one of the critics in the GEEK OUT featurette is another question I have to ask. We’ll see come May.
