I figured that after doing an article on the highest-profile horror remake of 2009, that I should also do an article on the (most likely) highest-profile horror remake of 2010: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Apparently, two lucky high schools were selected as actual filming locations. Both schools are located, ironically enough, in the state of Illinois (where Michael Myers is from).
It was just announced that Elk Grove High School and Hersey High School in Arlington Heights are both on the schedule when shooting begins in Chicago on May 5th. The filmmakers were looking for high schools with pools, which means we must be getting some swimming scenes in the forthcoming flick. Maybe Freddy will be turning into Michael Phelps in order to trick some students into taking a dip (to their doom)? I can’t wait to find out.
I still say that casting Jackie Earl Haley as Kruger is genius. The man has edgy talent to spare and should be an ideal fit for… the glove.
