From: The First Three Seasons are Coming to Netflix

One of the biggest breakout series in the genre space over the last few years has to be From. Created by John Griffin, the show, which premiered in 2022, initially had a low-key premiere as an Epix original, only for it to become an unlikely hit with critics and audiences. It ended up becoming one of the flagship shows of the rebranded MGM+ streaming service, with its run set to wrap up with a fifth and final season sometime next year.

Now, perhaps in a bid to grow the show’s audience, MGM+ is licensing the series to Netflix, with the first three seasons set to stream on October 19th for a limited time. In the old days, shows such as Breaking Bad grew their audiences exponentially when they went on Netflix, but in the increasingly fractured streaming space, this has become increasingly rare, as most streamers hold on to their own shows.

Yet, things have started to open up, with streamers realizing that they can profit by licensing a show while also potentially growing its viewership. With Netflix still the biggest streaming platform on the planet, such a move certainly makes sense.

From stars Harold Perrineau as Boyd Stevens, the sheriff of a nightmarish town that traps residents as they enter. The series has long been a favorite of ours on the site, with our interviews with the cast always doing well in terms of views. It will be interesting to see if From‘s licensing to Netflix ends up growing the show’s profile, with many believing that were it on a bigger streaming service, its viewership would be huge. Although, one would imagine MGM+ would license it to Amazon Prime Video, with the channel being a subsidiary of that company. Internationally, its streaming rights are complicated, with it being a Paramount+ show in Canada. No word yet on whether or not it will now be available on Netflix in Canada in addition to the US.
