Jon Favreau has gone from courting Sherlock Holmes…to courting James Bond?
It’s true. Variety is reporting that in the stead of Robert Downey Jr. (who just bowed out to pursue a SHERLOCK 2), Daniel Craig is in current negotiations to helm the lead in the animated genre mash-up COWBOYS AND ALIENS. Dig it…
Based on the 2006 graphic novel about a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers who resolve to patch up their differences when an alien spaceship crash-lands in their city, Craig has been offered the lead of Zeke Johnson.
While no official commitment has been signed, Craig may very well have enough downtime between a purported 2011 release window and downtown from a sputtering Bond franchise. He also has quite a successful history with DreamWorks, having appeared in such titles as MUNICH and ROAD TO PERDITION, respectively.
Favreau will not only direct from a script by Damon Lindelof (“Lost”) and Mark Fergus (CHILDREN OF MEN, IRON MAN), he’ll also lend his voice to a character in the film.
When this shite goes official, we’ll update y’all!
Favreau’s IRON MAN 2 star Scarlett Johansson. Cherry Liquor anyone?!?
