Future Stargirl Brec Bassinger is shark bait in 47 Meters Down: Uncaged

When the DC Universe series Stargirl stars filming next month, actress Brec Bassinger will be taking on the title role, playing a teenage girl who "borrows" a powerful item from her retired superhero stepfather and becomes "the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes." But before Bassinger gets to work pulling off heroic feats and inspiring a generation, she's going to be facing off with aquatic predators in director Johannes Roberts' sequel to his film 47 METERS DOWN.

Written by Roberts and Ernest Riera (the pair also wrote the first 47 METERS DOWN together), the sequel is titled 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED and tells the story of

four teens diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their adventure turns to horror when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves.

Bassinger's co-stars include Sistine Stallone, Corinne Foxx, John Corbett, Nia Long, Sophie Nelisse, Brianne Tju, Davi Santos, and Kylin Rhambo.

Bassinger will be playing "the popular, self-entitled leader of a group of mean girls", so a character who is quite far from her Stargirl future, and one who is very likely to get eaten by a shark.

47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED is currently filming in the Dominican Republic. James Harris, Mark Lane, and Robert Jones of The Fyzz are producing, with Byron Allen, Carolyn Folks, and Jennifer Lucas serving as executive producers.

Allen's ESMP will be giving the film a major theatrical release on June 28, 2019.
