Before you blow your load over your keyboard, let me refine that statement. It is going to happen, but the story will be told through a different medium than it’s predecessors: as a 6 part graphic novel mini-series. Sorry folks, no movie treatment here, but the cool thing is that the comic is based on the proposed movie treatment that was being kicked around a few years back. If it actually became a movie, it would’ve looked a lot like this!
DC and Dynamite Entertainment are collaborating to bring the comic to life, based on the original film treatment by New Line’s Jeff Katz. Katz had a chance to chat it up with NewsARama at the WW in Chicago, and he had lots of interesting things to say about the project, including a few lines as to what the comic was all about. Check it:
They’re redeveloping it [Crystal Lake] to make it a palatable place for people to live, and Ash has chased the Necronomicon there after all of these years, and is going in under the guise of Ashley Williams, S-Mart employee to finally end this once and for all – only to find that he’s got the two biggest, baddest icons of horror standing in his way.
Nice! The whole interview is interesting as hell, and paints quite the kick-ass picture for the movie that could’ve been and the comic that will be… to check it out, click HERE and have a blast. While I’m bummed the film project fell through the Hollywood shuffle, I’m stoked to see the story making it’s way out there. Who knows, maybe going the graphic novel route really is the way to go here… I guess we’ll have to wait and see. FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH is set to hit comic stores everywhere this November.
