FX and Marvel’s Legion to end with Season 3 finale

Friends, Marvel zombies, and readers with exquisite taste in comic-to-television entertainment, it has fallen upon me to bring you the unfortunate news of LEGION's cancellation. At FX's TCA presentation earlier today, FX network boss John Landgraf announced that the upcoming third season of Noah Hawley's musically-charged, otherworldly, and sensationally psychological X-Men-related series will be its last. Now, before you join me in climbing the highest mountain to shout collective wails of woe, you should know that Hawley says that his intention was always to end David's journey after the show's Season 3 finale.

As you're likely to know, LEGION stars Dan Stevens (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, DOWNTON ABBEY) as David Haller, a conflicted omega-level mutant prone to experiencing schizophrenic episodes while striving to control a myriad of voices inside his head. After a bizarre encounter with an ancient mutant known as the Shadow King, David joins a group of wayward mutants in the hope of discovering ways to control his seemingly limitless capabilities.

In addition to Stevens, LEGION stars Aubrey Plaza (CHILD'S PLAY, PARKS AND RECREATION), Rachel Keller (FARGO, THE MENTALIST), Bill Irwin (INTERSTELLAR, THE LADY IN THE WATER), Jean Smart (GARDEN STATE, SWEET HOME ALABAMA), and Jemaine Clement (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, THE FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS).

When last we left David and his friends, the son of Charles Xavier (David) felt as if he'd been double-crossed by the very people who said they would help him. Now that he's off the leash, it will take everything the mutant community has to bring David down before he rips a whole in the fabric of reality and then some.

LEGIONS Season 3 is expected to launch sometime in 2019.
