FX scores Twilight saga

Hot off the heals of last week’s announcement that the cable network FX had landed the basic cable rights to 2012, ZOMBIELAND, STAR TREK, and TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN (check out the juicy details HERE), Variety recently announced that the network just landed even more blockbusters to its slate: the TWILIGHT franchise!

Making a deal with Summit Entertainment, FX will have the cable rights to TWILIGHT, the record-setting NEW MOON, ECLIPSE, and BREAKING DAWN, all in attempts to land a wider viewing audience (i.e., more females).

Before you begin setting your TiVos, don’t. TWILIGHT won’t be on the network until late 2011, NEW MOON will wait until late 2012, and ECLIPSE won’t be until sometime in 2013. In other words, FX is in it for the long haul, and banking on these films being more than just a fad. An opening weekend of more than $142M, and I’d say they cut themselves quite the deal.

The craziest thing about this deal is the mention of BREAKING DAWN. I thought we were done with ECLIPSE… what’s this BREAKING DAWN bullshit? Will it ever end???? To check out the full article, click HERE, and do yourselves a favor and not see NEW MOON again this weekend.
