G4 is slowly making the transition to GQ by axing Attack of the Show and X-Play

JoBloJoBlo

It was rather surprising to hear the news that G4 would be switching over to GQ. The network is now slowly phasing out the programming to make the transition to please the sophisticated male.

That said, ATTACK OF THE SHOW and X-PLAY have been cancelled. So if it still matters to you, go right ahead and DVR what you might be missing. If it’s Candace Bailey’s ass, you can just google that.

Attack of the Show and X-Play will continue to roll out new episodes through December. Leading up to their finales, a rotating lineup of guest co-hosts will join Attack of the Show hosts Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood, including John Barrowman, Michael Ian Black, Josh Myers, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and Horatio Sanz. Various stars are also expected to join X-Play hosts Morgan Webb and Blair Herter on their show.”

Both shows will take the next two months to wind down with a series of farewell episodes, inviting back favorite guests and former hosts, as well as airing audience favorite segments, such as Attack of the Show’s 2007 iPhone coverage and their first Comic-Con show that aired live from the convention floor in 2006. X-Play will recap some of its past coverage from the floor of the E3 convention. Both Attack and X-Play pioneered such live convention-floor coverage.

X-PLAY along with AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR were the only things that mattered to me. I also took in a few episodes of COPS during the week. The focus of G4 quickly became less about tech and more about T&A, especially after they figured out that Olivia Munn was making boys cheese in their pants. But I digress…

I still miss the days of TECH TV along with SCREEN SAVERS and ROBOT WARS. But I suppose that’s not what the public is crying out for–but is it GQ TV that they want?
