Game Change scribe Danny Strong set to write The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

When Danny Strong accepted the award for writing HBO’s GAME CHANGE, the first thing I said was, “Holy crap! That’s Jonathan!” I was completely unaware that Strong was the same Strong who once was in the cast of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. Not only did he script and co-produce GAME CHANGE, but he recently wrote the screenplay for Lee Daniels’ THE BUTLER. Who knew that Jonathan had it in him? He may not be able to kick Buffy’s ass, but he could score way higher than her on the writing portion of the SATs.

Strong has been hired to write for another major project, the third in THE HUNGER GAMES series, MOCKINGJAY. As for a synopsis for this thing, it may not be such a good idea since it would spoil it for those who haven’t read the books. Sorry. All I can say is expect more of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) taking on The Capitol.

The sequel to the original film, CATCHING FIRE is being directed by Francis Lawrence with a script from Simon Beaufoy (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE). That one will be out November 22, 2013.

MOCKINGJAY, as you may have expected, will be split in two parts with the first due out Nov. 21, 2014 and the second on Nov. 20, 2015.
