Game of Thrones actor Dean-Charles Chapman was almost attacked by a fan

Dean-Charles Chapman is having a banner year. The twenty-two year old actor already has two successful films in the can with 2019's BLINDED BY THE LIGHT and Netflix's THE KING. Moreover, he's costarring with George MacKay in the riveting WWI drama 1917. The film is already garnering a ton of Oscar buzz and JoBlo's own Matt Rooney was thoroughly captivated.

While 2019 has certainly been successful for the Essex native, most audiences recognize him as the affable and naive King Tommen from HBO's Game of Thrones. Chapman portrayed the second bastard son of Jamie Lannister for three seasons before his character decided to do a Triple Lindy out a Red Keep window. Of all the Lannisters on Game of Thrones, Tommen seemed to be the most innocent and likable. Unlike his cruel brother Joffrey all the kid wanted to do was be a just king and make sweet sweet love to Natalie Dormer's Queen Margaery.

Game of Thrones has certainly generated a rabid fan base. People were obsessed with the show and their devotion ranged the gamut, everything from tattoos to naming their kids Arya and Bran. Unfortunately some fans can take their enthusiasm a little too far, something that Chapman revealed in a recent press interview for 1917.

During the course of the interview, Dean-Charles Chapman commented on a variety of topics among them the personal trainer he needed for 1917, the brutal six month rehearsal before the cameras even rolled, and the fact that he still hasn't seen the final season of Game of Thrones. However, a specific topic stood out from the rest. Chapman commented on a memorable encounter he had with a Game of Thrones fan that almost resulted in fisticuffs. The actor recalled the incident in vivid detail: “He was like, ‘I really hate you. I want to punch you in the face’” And my mates were like, ‘Whoa whoa whoa.'” 

Thankfully the would-be pugilist was backed down by Chapman and his friends. Sheesh man! Whatever happened to just wanting an autograph or a selfie? No need to threaten bodily harm to the man. Plus just look at that handsome boyish face! Is that the kind of face that demands punching? Absolutely not!

Alongside Dean-Charles Chapman and George MacKay, 1917 stars Mark Strong, Richard Madden, Colin Firth, and Benedict Cumberbatch hit theaters in limited release on Christmas Day and wide release January 10, 2020.
