Garret Hedlund the latest to join the Coens’ Inside Llewyn Davis

JoBloJoBlo

I’ve called Garrett Hedlund (TRON: LEGACY, COUNTRY STRONG) a personality vacuum in the past and I’m sticking to it. This is despite the fact, however, that the masterful Coen Bros. apparently see something in him that’s worth throwing up onto the big screen.

According to Variety, Hedlund is in negotiations to join the sibling filmmakers’ upcoming music film INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. While Hedlund’s role isn’t discussed in the trade’s brief report, he will be joining an impressive cast that so far includes Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, and John Goodman. The film is based on the 1960s Greenwich Village folk music scene and follows the life of the titular Llewyn Davis (to be played by Isaac), a character loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk.

All of this comes shortly after the news that the ill-advised AKIRA adaptation would no longer be moving forward, presumably freeing up Hedlund who was set to play one of that film’s lead roles.
