Garris off Fear Itself

ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that FEAR ITSELF – the watered-down MASTERS OF HORROR that is supposed to air on NBC (wherever they can dump it and wonder why they ever agreed to hosting the sure-to-be low rated show in the first place) – is loosing show-runner Mick Garris (shown above, just kickin’ it with John Landis), due to the writer’s strike currently crippling Hollywood.

According to the site, Garris’ is not allowed to perform his duties based on certain guidelines laid down by the WGA, so his responsibilities are being carried by the producers at Industry Entertainment and Lionsgate. This show was kind of shit out of luck to begin with, now they have random producers (and probably their harried assistants) running things. I’m not a big Mick Garris fan, but at least he attracts big names (i.e. all his horror director pals). Will the same guys who flocked to MASTERS OF HORROR want to do a lame PG-13 version of the show for people that will further want to chop the balls off of their stories?

That said, Stuart Gordon, John Carpenter, and Tobe Hooper are all in line to contribute to the series, due in 2008.
