Gary Oldman, Shia LaBeouf & Kate Mara join post-apocalyptic film Man Down

Does Gary Oldman have a thing for movies that are set after the whole world has gone to shit? Variety is reporting THE BOOK OF ELI and DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES star has been cast in the post-apocalyptic thriller MAN DOWN, and the site has also learned Shia LaBeouf and Kate Mara will star in the film as well.

Dito Montiel (A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS, FIGHTING) will direct the movie from a script by Adam Simon (SYNAPSE), and producer Dawn Krantz says she "knew it was something very special" the first time she read Simon's screenplay.

Synopsis:

The film follows a haunted Afghanistan war veteran who attempts to come to terms with his past while searching for his family in a post-apocalyptic America.

Dito Montiel's A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS was a decent movie, however I haven't been that impressed with his other films. But I'm still hopeful MAN DOWN will be a solid post-apocalyptic flick, and it's not like I'm going to say no to a movie starring Gary Oldman.

Shia LaBeouf can be seen next in David Ayer's FURY on October 17, 2014. Gary Oldman's CHILD 44 will be released on April 17, 2015, and you'll be able to check out Kate Mara as Sue Storm in Josh Trank's THE FANTASTIC FOUR on June 19, 2015.
