The boys over at B-D scored some insight into the upcoming remake of THE GATE, coming at us in 3D sometime next year, from director Alex Winters. Yes, Bill from the BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE movies. He’s directing films these days, and next up on his plate… THE GATE 3D!
Not much has been known about the details of the new GATE until now, and it’s full of the same changes and similiarities you’d expect from a remake of this magnitude. From writer Kerric Macdonald, the new GATE goes like this:
THE GATE 3D revolves around Miles and Terry who live in a typical suburban tract. One day, they discover a mysterious crystalline rock in Miles’ backyard, they quickly dig up the lawn in search of more. But instead, they unearth The Gate – the opening to an underground chamber containing terrifying evil. The boys soon realize what they have unleashed, as one dire event follows another. With supernatural fiends invading suburbia, it’s up to the kids to find the secret that will lock forever THE GATE…If it is not too late.
I think it’s the ideal movie to have in 3D, especially if it’s the real gimicky 3D where nothing is in 3D until they uncover the Gate and all sorts of weird and bizarre shit starts flooding out of it. But if the whole thing’s in 3D, that’d be cool too.
Alex Winters as director, a GATE remake on the horizon… what a wacky world we live in where reliving the 80s is the cool thing to do. I mean seriously, that decade was f*cked up, and yet it seems like we keep going back to it. Weird. Stick around for more on THE GATE 3D as we hear it!
