Gearhead for Valhalla

Now I’ve never heard of GEARHEAD before… but after reading up a bit it’s definitely peaked my interest! I bring this up because there’s news coming in from Variety today that Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures have just scored the rights to said graphic novel.

Now if knowledge serves me correctly, there was news about GEARHEAD coming to the big screen about a year ago… but it looks like that never came to be. Worry not though, because it looks like Valhalla are taking the reigns and moving forward.

The 4 issue graphic series was created by Dennis Hopeless and Kevin Mellon. It centered around a young woman who leaves the drag strip to team up with a group of rebels to fight the corrupt superheroes who govern the U.S..

Well that’s fairly original and intriguing at the same time. Hurd’s Valhalla were also the ones producing the recent INCREDIBLE HULK and the upcoming PUNISHER: WAR ZONE. HULK got mostly positive reviews and WAR ZONE is looking better everyday… so this is all pointing to GEARHEAD being something to watch for.
