I can remember a birthday I had where my mom took me and my brother to the movie theater to see a special movie that had opened up on my birthday. I remember thinking that this movie had to be special since it came out on my birthday. My heart was set on this being a special day for me, since going to the movies was my favorite thing to do. That movie’s name was STREET FIGHTER. Needless to say, I hate video game movies with a vicious rage and I weep openly whenever anyone mentions my 11th birthday (okay, slight exaggeration).
So whenever video game movie news pops up, I’m pretty mellow about the news. So I will present this next bit of news to you with a bit of trepidation: New Line has won the movie rights to the popular video game GEARS OF WAR. The game’s plot revolves around the invasion of earth by an alien breed known as the "Locusts", your job in the game is to of course shoot, kill, or blow up as many of these bad boys as possible. Sounds like on an old concept right? – Well this game has sold over 3 million units, making it an undeniable choice for a studio to pour 100 million dollars into a budget only to eventually get torn apart by critics alike. Oh well, it will probably be better than DOUBLE DRAGON.
