Genesis Rodriguez, Tao Okamoto, and more join the cast of Puberty

A couple weeks ago, we shared the news that Abbie Cornish, Dylan Gelula, and Garrett Wareing would be starring in a psychological thriller called PUBERTY for director Eddie Alcazar. Word has now come out that Alcazar has assembled quite an interesting supporting cast – the previously announced actors will be joined on set by Genesis Rodriguez, Tao Okamoto, Martin Sensmeier, Chris Santos, and Rainey Qualley.

Genre fans may recognize Rodriguez (pictured below) from her roles in the Kevin Smith films TUSK and YOGA HOSERS. Okamoto (above) is best known for the superhero movies THE WOLVERINE and BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, but she was also on several episodes of Hannibal. Sensmeier recently made a strong impression as a member of the latest iteration of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. Chris Santos starred in Steven Soderbergh's THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. Andie MacDowell's middle child, Rainey Qualley can be seen in the films MIGHTY FINE and FALCON SONG.

Scripted by Ted Kupper from a story he and Alcazar came up with together, PUBERTY is about

a teenage boy with a violent past who is haunted by dark visions and enters a mysterious clinic where the patients wildly transform their bodies and minds using genetic engineering. He undergoes treatment, installing therapeutic implants into his body, but discovers that purity of mind is not exactly what he’d imagined.

Filming is expected to take place in Los Angeles this winter.
