George R.R. Martin’s werewolf novel The Skin Trade heading to the big screen?!

You guys ever hear of a book called THE SKIN TRADE? Nah me either. But that changes today!

Apparently this project has been in the works since 2009, with our last update coming way back in April 2010. So what’s the deal with THE SKIN TRADE? Check it.

You see THE SKIN TRADE is a werewolf novel by “Game of Thrones” creator George R. R. Martin that Mike the Pike Productions have been trying to get off the ground for a while now. And according to IGN they’ve recently succeeded!

It seems Mike the Pike Productions have recently reached an agreement with Executive Producers that’ll have THE SKIN TRADE scoring itself some A-list talent with a budget of $60-80M. But that’s all the technical mumbo-jumbo. You want the rundown for this thing, right? Right.

When a string of grotesque killings begins to strike her small city, private detective Randi Wade becomes suspicious. A serial killer is taking the skin of its victims and the grisly murders remind her all too much of her own father’s death almost twenty years ago. As the police hit a dead end, Randi goes on a search for answers of her own… But when a close friend suddenly becomes a target, he is forced to reveal a startling secret about himself and Randi is quickly pulled into a dark underworld where monsters exist and prey on the living.

Considering a good werewolf flick seems to be a very hard thing to come by these days I’m always up for giving some new stuff a chance. What says you guys? THE SKIN TRADE sounding like something you can dig? Make sure to spit some bullets below and let us know how you’re feeling about this one!

We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for more on THE SKIN TRADE, which also has a graphic novel heading our way from Avatar Press. As soon as anything new comes across our desk we’ll be sure to pass the good word along to all of you.
