THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN has already wrapped filming and is set for a release next December but aside from a few shots of Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis in mocap costumes, we haven’t seen much from the film itself. That all changes today as Empire has released a look at the cover for its December issue, which debuts our first look at Tintin and his faithful pup Snowy.
As you can see, the shot mirrors a popular illustration from the comic series. I’m not much of a Tintin fan but it all looks OK to me. Frankly I think it was a smart move to frame Tintin to the side and shadow his face a bit so they avoid the uncanny valley criticisms so frequently lobbed at mocap films. A rendered photo is one thing but I’m really curious to see what it all looks like in motion. I’m wondering if a teaser trailer could be attached to HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. Hmm….
