What if a game of medieval reenactment turned into a real life bout of murder? Well, such a topic definitely cruxes the plotline of Alexandre Franchi’s feature debut THE WILD HUNT, which you can scope the trailer for below!
Set to screen at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, THE WILD HUNT is about a medieval reenactment game that turns into a Shakespearean tragedy when a non-player crashes the event to win back his girlfriend.
Or, put another way: THE WILD HUNT tells the story of Erik Magnusson, a young man who decides to follow his estranged girlfriend Evelyn into a medieval re-enactment game when he discovers that she has been seduced by one of the players. As the down-to-earth Erik treks deeper into the game in search of his love, he inadvertently disrupts the delicate balance of the make believe fantasy-land. Passions are unleashed. Rules are broken. Reality and fantasy collide. The good-hearted game turns into a tragedy of mythic proportion…
Either way you cut it, this looks like an interesting flick. What starts off as a hokey, hardened geek’s wet dream, slowly grows into something a bit more sinister. I like the rapid transition from make believe into harsh reality shown in the trailer, and if the entire flick can offer that kind of jarring counterbalance, the shite could very well be worth watching.
Kyle Gatehouse, Trevor Hayes, Claudia Jurt, Mark Antony Krupa, Ricky Mabe, Spiro Malandrakis, Kent McQuaid, Holly O’Brien, Terry Simpson, Nicholas Simard, and Martin Stone all take part. Krupa and Franchi co-wrote the script.
