Today we got an update from Variety concerning Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures. That update told us that Ghost House will be bringing us two new… er… remakes of European horror movies!
One of the titles has already been announced: ROOM 205. So we knew Ghost House was remaking ROOM 205, but today we got a mess of info about that remake.
Apparently the movie will be re-titled THE DORM and Martin Barnewitz will be directing. Barnewitz sound familiar? Well that might be because he also directed the original ROOM 205. Well that’s interesting. THE DORM centers on a college freshman who moves into a dorm only to find that her room is haunted by sinister forces. Stephen Susco will be adapting the screenplay.
The second film Ghost House will be bringing to us is ANGUISH. ANGUISH is about two girls who, while watching a scary movie, find themselves in a horror film of their own when their life starts to mirror the pic’s plot. ANGUISH is a remake of the 1987 Spanish film of the same title.
Ready for the kicker? Jake Wade Wall penned the ANGUISH screenplay. Yes, Wade Wall. The man behind such movies as WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, AMUSEMENT, and THE HITCHER. Well that’s intriguing… not really though. Unfortunate considering ANGUISH’s synopsis sounds great! Who knows, maybe Wade Wall will come through?
That’s all we got for now. Keep it here for any and all Ghost House updates as we hear them!
