Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance finds it’s devil in Ciaran Hinds

The last we heard about GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE was that the flick had scored a release date of February 17, 2012. Alright that’s well over a year away but we can dig it, right? What I’m really wondering is who’ll be stepping up to the plate with Mr. Nicolas Cage in this sequel. Well if you happen to be wondering the same thing then you should definately scope out today’s update!

The guys over at The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog have two intriguing names circling the film: Ciaran Hinds and Violante Placido. Nothing too Earth shattering but I get the feeling this is some solid casting. We’ve even got a simpler, more detailed rundown of the synopsis for the flick. Check it:

The story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday.

Now Hinds (above) is in line to star as the film’s villain, the devil, while the Italian actress-singer Placido is set to star as the boy’s mother. Mind you neither name has officially signed onto the project but as always I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. The two join Nicolas Cage in the Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor project, which is coming at us from a script by David Goyer.

Plans are for GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE to shoot in Romania and Turkey starting in late-November with Columbia dropping this one into theaters on February 17, 2012. Now a lot more GHOST RIDER updates are sure to come our way as we approach it’s November start date so as always be sure to keep it here for more on the project as we hear it!
