While discussing the possibility of returning to the ill-fated project THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE — complete with star Johnny Depp — Gilliam mentions that his endlessly-in-the-works screen version of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel GOOD OMENS remains on his “to do” list. Gilliam believes that with Gaiman’s name making the rounds (to varying success) on high-profile movies like STARDUST and BEOWULF, that his work could be “hot” at the moment, and that Gilliam’s the only one “allowed” by the authors to adapt it to film.
The whimsical book involves a misplaced Anti-Christ, a prophecy from a witch, and an angel and demon teaming up to prevent Armageddon. Gilliam is currently working on THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS with Heath Ledger.
