Go back in time with the found footage time travel flick Welcome To Yesterday!

Fans of Josh Trank's CHRONICLE will no doubt get a kick out of the latest entry in the found-footage genre, WELCOME TO YESTERDAY, which deviates from monsters, aliens, and superpowers to focus instead on time travel. Much like CHRONICLE, the films has a group of kids getting their hands on power they don't quite understand (or respect) and forcing them to right the wrongs they commit as a result. It looks like a lot of fun and it seems like the filmmakers have explored the story in a cool "Sound of Thunder" kind of way, which should make for some good thrills.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

A group of teens embark on an adventure when they discover secret plans to build a time machine.

I'm a fan of the found footage genre when it's brining something new to the table. I think it's thus far proven to have staying power as we're fascinated by the "realistic" aspect of it, particularly as we document our own lives more and more in this respect. The time travel slant is a strong angle, so hopefully the filmmakers will exploit it to its full potential. So far, I'm intrigued.

WELCOME TO YESTERDAY opens on February 28, 2014.
