Godzilla roars to the heavens in new Godzilla: King of the Monsters poster

The new movie GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS will feature plenty of massive, city-destroying creatures, but the new poster reminds us who the one true king of the monsters really is. Godzilla is sending a mighty roar to the heavens in the new poster for the movie, his blue glow moving down his scaly spine with a young Millie Bobby Brown watching in awe. Can someone tell her it may not be so safe to go near something that can eat her so easily?

This new poster arrives on the heels of loads of new promotional material for movies like AVENGERS: ENDGAME, SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME and MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL. Word was we were supposed to get trailers for the latter two this weekend, but we all had to settle for some panel footage from CCXP in Brazil. The last trailer we saw for KING OF THE MONSTERS was last summer during San Diego Comic-Con, which means we are long overdue for some new footage, and this poster drop means we could be very close to getting it.

As well, director Michael Dougherty posted some pics on Twitter of some collectible figures from the movie, each giving us a new look at the three non-Godzilla monsters in the movie – Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. While it may be (very) easy to brush off the last GODZILLA movie from 2014, this new one is shaping up to be something very different, and I am very anxious to see what kind of monster epicness awaits us next summer. But seriously, can someone get the star of STRANGER THINGS away from Godzilla.

Here's the synopsis:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.  When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
