I was going to say something like ‘It’s official, Hollywood has run out of original ideas’, but then I realized that that happened a long time ago. Old news, if you will. A no brainer in this day in age. Sad, but true…
But just to reiterate the point, it looks like Gold Circle Films has acquired the rights to remake the German horror flick ANTIBODIES, which came out just a few years ago. Yes, instead of just re-releasing it, they’re just going to ‘Americanize’ it, and sell it to the masses, in a toned down, PG-13 manner, I’m sure.
According to MovieHole, Kevin Waehner is up to write the script- which could, or could not, be a bad thing- as the guy hasn’t written anything before, but has worked as a production assistant on other films, like SLITHER. Maybe his ‘fresh’ take on it will be just what we needed… or maybe what we needed was the damn original re-released!
ANTIBODIES is about a cop who gets more than he bargained for when he travels to the city to interrogate a long wanted serial killer.
Do yourselves a favor and seek out the original German flick, and hope and cross your fingers that this remake never sees the light of day. We’ll keep you posted on what’s going on with this, and get ready for CASE 39, original ANITBODIES director Christian Alvart’s American directorial debut, which hits theaters this October.
