Boyd Holbrook to menace Hugh Jackman in Wolverine 3 as the lead villain

As production on Hugh Jackman's final (sniff) WOLVERINE film is set to kick off in the coming months, we're likely to start hearing more news about the cast who will accompany Jackman on his Wolverine swan-song. One of the first new roles to be filled has been the lead villain, who Deadline reports will be played by Boyd Holbrook (GONE GIRL).

Deadline says that Boyd Holbrook has just signed on to play the WOLVERINE sequel's villain alongside Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart and that Holbrook will play a "relentless, calculating and intense head of Security for a global enterprise" who is set against Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. James Mangold, director of THE WOLVERINE, will be returning to direct the sequel which is said to be shooting this May. Although we still don't know all that much about what Jackman's final Wolverine tale will consist of, there have been many teases that the film will follow the "Old Man Logan" story-line, be R-rated, and that there's even a chance for Liev Schreiber to return as Victor Creed/Sabretooth. The as-yet-untitled WOLVERINE sequel will hit theaters on March 3, 2017.

One of Boyd Holbrook's latest projects was Netflix's Narcos series, in which he stars as Steve Murphy, a DEA agent who was tasked with bringing down Pablo Escobar. A second season of Narcos is on the way, but Netflix hasn't yet set a release date as of yet.
