Gore’s Bioshock coming

I’m not a gamer so I don’t really know shit when it comes to video games and to be honest a lot of them look the same to me (at least the First Person shooters), but BIOSHOCK seems like a different kind of beast. Maybe it’s the fact that it takes place underwater, but it just seems more colorful and lively than some of these other games, which usually appear to be too dark and hectic. Of course I could be wrong about this, but please, be kind, I’m a n00b…

It was announced last year that Gore Verbinki (THE RING, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 1-3) and screenwriter John Logan (SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET) would be tackling the material and bringing us a live-action BIOSHOCK in the future. But just how near in the future was unknown, because obviously Verbinski had a little indie called PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4 (or whatever the hell it’ll eventually be titled) blocking his way. Doesn’t seem like an issue anymore though, as Verbinski has told The Mouse House that he’s through playing pirates and will not be directing any more of the tiresome Johnny Depp-as-Keith Richards routine. (It was amusing the first time, but c’mon, we get it…) He will instead be turning his attention under the high seas.

While it looks like BIOSHOCK will be coming our way sooner rather than later – it still won’t be too soon, as Verbinski is still directing a CG-animated flick called RANGO starring, of course, Johnny Depp. He also has a remake of CLUE in his sights. A busy f*cking man, he is.

If you’re as ignorant about this game as I am, take a look at the synopsis, found on Wikipedia: Set in an alternate history 1960, the game places the player in the role of a plane crash survivor named Jack, who must explore the underwater city of Rapture, and survive attacks by the mutated beings and mechanical drones that populate it.

If Gore can find a place for his PIRATES starlet Keira Knightley, that would be lovely.
