Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies teaser trailer brings the original girl gang back to the schoolyard

Sound the bell because school is in session, and the original girl gang, the Pink Ladies, are ready “to do bad to be good!” Parmount+ dropped the Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies teaser trailer on Monday, marking the return of the Rydell High School’s peppy, prissy, and prodigious Pink Ladies. They’re here to rule the school and dance their way into your heart again in Paramount’s new series.

Set in the mid-50sGrease: Rise of the Pink Ladies revolves around Jane (Marisa Davila), Olivia (Cheyenne Isabel Wells), Cynthia (Ari Notartomaso), and Nancy (Tricia Fukuhara). The story takes place four years before the original film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John and focuses on a group of outcast women who refuse to conform to society’s norms. Proudly displaying themes of feminism, diversity, and independence, the Pink Ladies strive for equality while busting sweet moves on the streets.

I’m not a fan of the original film, but I’ll be damned if the Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies teaser trailer doesn’t make this series look like a lot of fun. Today’s trailer footage teases rebellious behavior from the ladies, protests, schoolyard brawls, mechanic shop shenanigans, and more hair jelly than Ulysses Everett McGill’s private stash. The 10-episode series kicks off on April 6, exclusively on Paramount+.

The Grease prequel series is written and executive produced by creator Annabel Oakes (Atypical), who also serves as showrunner. Marty Bowen will executive produce through Temple Hill. Adam Fishbach also executive produces, with Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey executive producing via Picturestart. Alethea Jones (Made For Love) will direct the pilot and two more episodes and be an executive producer. With Jamal Sims arranging choreography and music by Grammy nominee and executive music producer Justin Tranter, Grace Gilroy is producing.

Speaking of music, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies will feature new original music written and executive produced by Tranter, a Grammy-nominated songwriter, and producer known for albums by Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, and The Chicks.

What do you think about Paramount’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies teaser trailer? Is it electrifying? Are you ready to enroll at Rydell High and cut a rug? Let us know in the comments.
