Nearly ten years after facing the aquatic horrors of Piranha 3DD (watch it HERE), 30 Rock's Katrina Bowden is set to be threatened by another sort of fish in the upcoming shark thriller Great White, which RLJE Films and Shudder will be releasing in the U.S. this summer. Great White will be arriving in U.S. theatres and on VOD on July 16th, and in anticipation of the release we have the trailer embedded above!
The feature directorial debut of commercial director Martin Wilson, Great White was scripted by Michael Boughen and was inspired by true events. The film aims to "tap into our most primal fear of the deep, and deliver the stuff of nightmares in the form of the ocean's most dangerous apex predator".
A blissful tourist trip turns into a nightmare when five seaplane passengers are stranded miles from shore. In a desperate bid for survival, the group tries to make it to land before they either run out of supplies or are taken by a menacing terror lurking just beneath the surface.
That's a very simple set-up, which is about all most shark thrillers need.
Bowden is joined in the cast by Aaron Jakubenko, Kimie Tsukakoshi, Tim Kano, and Te Kohe Tuhaka.
Great White was produced by Neal Kingston, Michael Robertson, and Pam Collis through their production banner Thrills & Spills. RLJE Films' Mark Ward and Jess De Leo also earned producing credits.
