Hugh Jackman leads first ever live trailer for The Greatest Showman

Movie trailers have been the ultimate form of movie promotion for as long as anyone can remember, and there hasn’t been much reason to innovate over the decades. The furthest we’ve seem to come is shorter teaser trailers, and then teasers for those teasers. The game needs to be switched up a bit, and leave it to Hugh Jackman to spark things up with his natural showmanship.

Last night history was made when Jackman, along with Zendaya and Zac Efron, performed for the first time ever a live trailer for a movie. The musical number aired during last night's A CHRISTMAS STORY LIVE, and featured 150 dancers all coming together on the Warner Bros. lot for a two-and-half minute extravaganza. Watch below, and be thankful they don't have to actually perform this on repeat until the movie comes out.

The number was for the song “Come Alive,” and though nothing is really shared about the plot it still gave audiences a taste of what to expect from the movie. The film was directed by Michael Gracey with songs from LA LAN LAND’s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Last week the film secured several nominations at the Golden Globes, including for Best Actor (Jackman) and Best Picture Musical or Comedy.

I haven't been all that interested in seeing GREATEST SHOWMAN, but hats off to the cast and team behind this live trailer. This is a ton of work to do for a final push for any movie, and they didn't hold back in the slightest. The actual trailers have teased a lavish, large-scale musical, and there's no reason not to expect such marvelous production after seeing this. The review embargo doesn't drop until the movie's release on Wednesday so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
