A new green-band trailer has arrived for LET’S BE COPS, which is pretty much the red-band trailer with all the expletives cut out. Starring Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. as a couple of guys who discover the power of the police uniform while attending a costume party. The duo decide to take it to the next level and end up getting in way over their heads. It’s a fun, high concept for a summer comedy and although Wayans Jr. and Johnson aren’t quite household names yet, this has the potential to be a breakout hit for the two up-and-comers.

It’s the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they’re not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted “heroes” get tangled in a real-life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.
I’ve heard that this is actually pretty funny from some folks who have already screened it, albeit with some reservations. I like Jake Johnson and think he’s got real potential to climb the ladder. Wayans Jr. has more to prove as he’s still in the shadow of his father. Hopefully, he’ll avoid the stigma that can come with the name and pave his own way. If he can stay away from spoof films he may have a chance.
