Guillermo del Toro chooses his Pacific Rim composer

Picking the right composer can do wonders for a film, no matter how good it might already be.  THE DARK KNIGHT.  KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.  DRIVE.  THE FOUNTAIN.  BRAVEHEART.  LORD OF THE RINGS. And so, in the spirit of choosing an already interesting composer and giving them a big project to play with (like with KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and LOTR):

“After many months we have finally closed the scoring with Ramin Djawadi – whose scores for Game of Thrones, Prison Break and Iron Man are amongst my favorites in the last few years.”

Which is pretty awesome.  Because “Game of Thrones.”  Djawadi has been a protege of sorts for Hans Zimmer, and worked on other movies you may know such as CLASH OF THE TITANS, FRIGHT NIGHT, and SAFE HOUSE.

PACIFIC RIM will be out July 12 of 2013 and stars Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Clifton Collins Jr., and Rinko Kikuchi.
