THR reports that Guillermo del Toro's still in-production stop-motion retelling of PINOCCHIO (which is co-directed by FANTASTIC MR. FOX's Mark Gustafson) has just nabbed a set of top stars for voice talent, including Cate Blanchett, Finn Wolfhard, and Tim Blake Nelson!
They'll be joining the already cast Ewan McGregor as Jiminy Cricket, David Bradley as Gepetto, Tilda Swinton as The Turquoise Fairy, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Christoph Waltz, Burn Gorman, and newcomer Gregory Mannas as the eponymous Pinocchio!
Here's the official synopsis:
A multi-shaded look at the Carlo Collodi tale, originally published in the 1880s. This version of the story is set during the rise of fascism in Mussolini’s Italy and is described as a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father’s expectations.
Meanwhile, PINOCCHIO is planned to premiere on Netflix – and in some theaters – sometime next year.
So what do you guys think? Fans of PINOCCHIO? If so, excited for a new take? Either way, sound off below!
