Today Suicide Girls scored an interview with FEAST director John Gulager, in which he talks about the whole experiencing of being on Project Greenlight, and what lies ahead in his filmmaking future. I gotta say, although the guy was a little ‘off’ on the show, you can tell he has a love for horror movies, and from what I’ve seen of FEAST, it definitely shows. Gotta love it.
But the best part of the interview? Apparently there was a clause at some point that FEAST had to be a PG rated movie! Yeah, no joke- check it: The original contract for the Greenlight deal said that we would deliver a PG-rated film. Right off the bat, we got together and said, “We need you to say that it should be an R-rated film.” I believe at one point there was discussion about making it PG and I think some people internally over at Dimensions started laughing. From what we shot, it was always going to be an R. Not that it’s too crazy or too far out or anything. It’s just how you make a horror film.
Spoken like a true horror fan- that’s just how you make a horror film- you make it R! If only half the horror movies being made today followed that motto, we wouldn’t have shite like THE FOG REMAKE clogging up the theater.
